Jim McCabe founded Ponderay Tech LLC after two decades working at the intersection of information technology, museum operations, and AV systems integration in the Pacific Northwest. His background spans enterprise IT infrastructure, exhibit technology, facility management, and custom software development — an unusual combination that makes him effective across the full lifecycle of museum technology projects.
Jim's IT career began at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in the 1990s, where he served as software engineer supporting over 8,000 users across the sprawling DOE site while also implementing AV technology for web based conferencing across Hanford's 580 square mile site using early conferencing tools such as Microsoft OCS/Lync. That experience — managing complex infrastructure in high-stakes environments where failure has real consequences — informs how he approaches museum technology today.
Prior to founding Ponderay Tech, Jim served as Director of Client Services at Boston Productions, one of the country's leading museum media production companies. In that role he managed client relationships and provided on-site technical services across a national portfolio of institutions — from the Kenosha Civil War Museum in Wisconsin to Space Center Houston.
